Hi,  I'm Lily

Hi, I’m Lily!

I’m about 40 pounds of sweet, kind, and happy energy, and at just one year old, I’m still very much a playful puppy at heart. I have a bit of a mischievous streak, too — my favorite toys are usually whatever I’m not supposed to chew on! And if there’s a duck head or a few puppy leftovers involved, you can pretty much count me in.

I’m definitely a snuggler, but I’m a very respectful one. I love being close to my people and soaking up affection, but I’m never pushy or demanding about it. I have a naturally gentle way of connecting with people that makes being around me feel easy and comforting.

One of my favorite things in the whole world is using my nose. Give me a training session with treats, a puzzle, or a fun scent game, and I’m in heaven. I’m highly trainable and eager to please, and I love having a job to do. Learning new things is exciting to me, especially when I get to use my brain — and my nose!

I’m also pretty incredible when it comes to meeting other animals. I’m respectful, kind, and genuinely enjoy being around them. I do wonderfully in public settings and take new environments in stride. With new people, I can be a little hand-shy at first, so I may need a moment to feel comfortable. Once I know you’re kind and safe, though, my sweet personality really starts to shine.

Honestly, I’m happiest when I’m eating. Food is definitely one of my love languages! But what makes me truly special goes far beyond my love of snacks. I have a very soft, intuitive soul. I’m the kind of dog who can melt your heart simply by gently leaning into you or offering my warm presence. I’m affectionate without being overwhelming, sensitive without being fragile, and always eager to please.

One of the most meaningful moments of my life happened when my person experienced a sudden cardiac episode. I seemed to sense that something was wrong and came over without being asked. I gently laid my head and body across their legs and stayed right there, offering quiet support until the episode suddenly ended. The abrupt change startled me at first, but once I realized everything was okay, I went right back to my goofy puppy self.

Since then, I’ve continued to show an incredible sensitivity to when an episode may be coming on. I naturally offer my gentle presence and stay close, as though I simply know that my person needs me. It’s something I seem to do instinctively — no one had to teach me to care.

I may still be young, but I have a remarkable combination of intelligence, kindness, sensitivity, and an incredible desire to connect with my people. I love learning, I love being close, and I love making the people around me feel supported. I’m Lily, and my greatest gift is simply the love I have to give.
