Puppy Training Options
When you decide you are going to bring home a puppy, it is a great idea to start looking for a local trainer. Whether you go through a small business, a large retailer or watch online classes, it is SO important to remember, no matter how much training we do with your puppy, they will still require training once they come home to you. We have a few direct trainers we work with and would be happy to provide their direct contact information below.

Alexandra Kazma

Alexandra is a longtime Foothill supporter and owner of two Foothill Aussies. She is our main trainer for our puppy consults. With over 20 years of experience in the animal industry specializing in dog behavior, Alexandra offers her expertise to our new puppy parents. Each new puppy owner will schedule a virtual session with Alexandra, where they will receive personalized advice and tips. She provides invaluable guidance to help improve behaviors and handle specific situations, ensuring a successful start for both puppies and their families. Additionally, she offers jump start packages beyond the initial consult - Foothill Families receive a special rate!

Foothill Aussies has partnered with an exceptional local trainer. She began her dog training journey at the age of 8 with her first dog, Dolly. She is a humane, reward-based trainer focused on all aspects of a dog’s well-being, and is a graduate of Susan Friedman's course and a member of the Pet Professional Guild and the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. She also volunteers with Golden Gate Lab Rescue.
We will be working closely with Jennifer to enhance our program and she will be handling our temperament testing. |

Find a Trainer Near Me
To find a trainer near you, you can visit the Association of Professional Dog Trainers website. You simply add a zip code and local trainers will display. This search doesn't display every trainer out there, so the below are some additional options to find the right trainer near you.
It is always helpful to get a recommendation from other dog owners. If you are in Facbeook groups local to you, you can post asking for recommendations on positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Another excellent tool is Yelp. You can enter your zip code and review trainers in your area. Be sure to read reviews! If you are still having trouble locating a trainer, there are big box retail pet stores that offer training. They typically follow positive reinforcement methods and are a great choice to help with getting puppy basic manners and the socialization they need. |
